Why You Should Go For Starfield Digital Premium Edition

Date:

It’s been nearing a month since Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield launched. The vast world of Starfield is well-thought out and can be explored at your own pace. With highly positive reviews, the open-world space adventure game is the next big thing in the open-world genre. Which leads us to the question. What’s the best Starfield edition to get? It’s a tricky one because Starfield comes in more than one premium edition.

Starfield: All Game Editions

Bethesda has made Starfield available in four editions, ranging from basic to premium ones. These four are: Standard Edition, Digital Premium Edition, Premium Edition Upgrade, and the Constellation Edition.

Starfield Digital Premium Edition: What It Comes With

Starfield Digital Premium Edition contains the Standard Edition content — which is basically the base game — the Old Mars Skin Pack, plus more digital content.

These digital items are: The Shattered Space expansion pack, the Constellation Skin Pack, Starfield Digital Artbook, and Starfield Original Soundtrack.

The Constellation Skin Pack comes with the Equinox Laser Rifle, Spacesuit, Helmet and Boost Pack.

Starfield Digital Premium Edition: Perks

The major perk of the Starfield Digital Premium Edition is the inclusion of the Shattered Space story expansion. It is highly likely that when the expansion pack comes out, players who have not purchased it as a part of any premium edition are going to pay slightly more. Ergo, if you want to get the benefit of having to pay less for the expansion pack when buying it in one bundle, you should go for the Digital Premium Edition.

The other perks are acccess to the Constellation Skin Pack, the digital artwork and soundtrack.
A new skin pack will add some zing to the looks and abilities of your character. The artbook and official soundtrack are for those who would like more immersion into the game’s environment.

Starfield Digital Premium Edition: Why Go For It

Starfield Digital Premium Edition offers you the best value among all the other editions when it comes to the gameplay part. It’s the edition that gets you the base game, two skin packs, the expansion pack and the two other digital goodies, all for US $99.99. If you buy the Standard Edition, which is cheaper, you would only get the base game.

For the Premium Edition Upgrade, you need to have the base game. So you will have to buy twice and will cost you extra. One other important thing is that the Premium Edition Upgrade is available only on Xbox Series X|S & Microsoft Store and not on Steam. If you bought the base game on Steam, you will have to repurchase it on these platforms.

The Constellation Edition contains everything the Digital Premium Edition and the Premium Edition Upgrade offer but there are two things working against it. Firstly, it is highly expensive. The most expensive edition, actually, costing US $299.99. Most users will not go for the Constellation Edition because of the price tag. And secondly, because it is a physical edition and is not offered on the digital storefronts.

With the Constellation Edition, you do get the extra physical collector’s items like the Steelbook Case, the Constellation Pack, Starfield Chronomark Watch and Case, and a Credit Stick with a laser-etched game code.

Hence, if we compare all the Starfield editions, the Digital Premium Edition gives you the most value overall and in terms of gameplay content.

Starfield Digital Premium Edition: Platforms and Price

The Digital Premium Edition can be purchased on Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Windows Store and Steam) for US $99.99.

Our Take

The Starfield Digital Premium Edition is the best value buy and gets you all the game content plus digital extras. The rest of the editions either offer less or equal content or are super expensive. We wholly recommend it.
