To make maple syrup in Stardew Valley, you require two items:

  • Maple seeds that germinate into a maple tree
  • A tapper, as equipment
  • Or, a heavy tapper, in the later stage of the game

➡️ How to Get Maple Seeds in Stardew Valley

You’ll find maple trees on your farm, or anywhere in Stardew Valley. They grow naturally in the wilderness. When you cut a maple tree, you’ll get maple seeds, which you can use to germinate seeds later.

Now, the reason this part is important is you’ll start out your journey in Stardew Valley by clearing out your farm. That’ll require you to cut down a few trees, and without knowing, you’ll cut down maple trees, and you’ll be able to collect maple seeds. We’re telling you this so that you do collect those seeds and don’t trash them.

Now, you can plant those seeds, and they’ll be full-grown maple trees in a few days. You don’t need to water big trees in Stardew Valley, either. The next thing you do is wait to craft a tapper. Let’s get to that part now.

➡️ How to Get a Tapper in Stardew Valley

Once you unlock Foraging Level 3, the tapper crafting recipe will be available to you. Now, the recipe will be available to you immediately. But as you know, you won’t be notified about it till you have gone to sleep for the night and your progress for the game has been saved.

You’ll need 40 pieces of wood and 2 copper bars to craft a tapper in Stardew Valley. In fact, craft the tapper and put it in your backpack. Press E, go to the 🔨Crafting tab and check for the tapper recipe.

➡️ How to Get Copper Bars in Stardew Valley

Now, you’ll need a furnace to smelt copper bars. You’ll need 5 copper ores and 1 coal as ingredients. To get copper ore, you’ll need to visit the mines and mine copper ore with a pickaxe between levels 1 – 31. You can also buy copper ore and coal from Clint’s Blacksmith Shop between 9 AM – 4 PM.

Iron ore is much more difficult to find. But with the right help, you can get iron ore in Stardew Valley anytime after the five in-game days are over when the mines are open to you.

➡️ How to Get a Furnace in Stardew Valley

As for a furnace, Clint will come and give you the blueprint for one when you have mined a copper ore. You’ll need 20 copper ores and 25 pieces of stone to craft a single furnace. If you have more supplies, you can craft multiple furnaces to save time.

➡️ How to Get Wood in Stardew Valley

You can get wood by chopping trees on your own farm, or you can buy it from Robin’s Carpenter Shop or the Travelling Cart south of your farm. While Robin’s shop is open between 9 AM – 4 PM except on Tuesdays, the Travelling Cart is open on Fridays and Sundays between 6 AM – 9 PM.

You need to have space in your inventory, and in case you’re out of space, you can put away some items in a chest. Or, you can upgrade your backpack at Pierre’s General Store to 24 compartments or 36 compartments.

Other Ways to Get Maple Syrup

Maple syrup is considered an artisan good in Stardew Valley. Now, while making maple syrup with a tapper is the easiest and straightforward way to do it, there are other ways:

  • You can also get maple syrup once in a while by processing hardwood in a wood chipper.

➡️ How to Get a Wood Chipper in Stardew Valley

Moreover, you’ll receive a letter from Robin on the second day of winter saying you can purchase a wood chipper from her. You can buy it from the Carpenter’s Shop for 1000g, and you can get hardwood by cutting down large stumps on your farm.

To achieve that, you’ll need to upgrade your hand-me-down axe to a copper axe by paying 2000g and 5 copper bars to Clint’s Blacksmith Shop.

How Long Does it Take to Make Maple Syrup?

On a normal tapper, maple syrup takes 9 in-game days. However, a heavy tapper takes 4 in-game days to make maple syrup.

➡️ How to Get a Heavy Tapper in Stardew Valley

You can get access to a heavy tapper much later in the game. After you unlock the portal to Ginger Island, you can buy the crafting recipe from Mr. Qi in his Secret Walnut Room for 20 Qi.

To craft a heavy tapper, you need 30 pieces of wood and 1 radioactive bar.

➡️ How to Get a Radioactive Bar in Stardew Valley

You require 5 radioactive ores and 1 coal in a furnace to produce a radioactive bar. You can get radioactive ore in the mine at level 120.

➡️ How to Get Qi Gems in Stardew Valley

In short, you can get Qi gems by completing tasks for Mr. Qi in his Secret Walnut Room once the portal to Ginger Island has been unlocked for your character. You can repair Mr. Willy’s boat and purchase a ticket to Ginger Island for 1000g.

Main Uses of Maple Syrup

Maple syrup has 4 main uses in Stardew Valley:

#1. Cooking – Maple Bar

You need maple syrup to make a maple bar. It’s a sweet doughnut that has a great maple glaze over it. You’ll also need sugar and wheat flour, which can be bought at Pierre’s General Shop between 9 AM and 5 PM except on Wednesdays.

However, you won’t receive the recipe for maple syrup until you’re in year 2 of your game. The recipe will be available to you on the 14th of Summer on the Queen of Sauce channel on your TV.

You can also get 225 energy and 101 health if you eat a maple bar. In fact, you’ll get +1 buff for fishing, farming, and mining activities.

In case you add Qi seasoning, you can sell it at Pierre’s for 450g. Or else, you can sell it for 300g.

#2. Crafting – Bee House

You can use maple syrup for crafting a bee house. Having a bee house helps you make wild honey. More on that later!

You’ll get the crafting recipe for a bee house after you cross Farming level 3 in Stardew Valley. You’ll need the following ingredients to craft a single bee house:

  • Maple syrup
  • 40 pieces of wood
  • 8 pieces of coal
  • 1 iron bar

You can get wild honey in 4 days when you place your bee house outside your farm. It won’t produce any honey in the winter or indoors, even when placed inside the greenhouse you build.

Moreover, if the bee house falls on any villager’s path, it’ll be destroyed instantly. Now, let’s share a trick to make more money from wild honey. If you place your bee house near flowers you’re growing, you’ll be making flower honey instead of wild honey, which sells at a higher rate.

When placed near Tulip and Blue Jazz in Spring, a bee house will produce flower honey that’ll be sold at 160g and 200g, which is 2x its normal selling price. Moreover, in summer, you can choose to place it near Sunflower, Summer Spangle, and Poppy, and the flower honey will sell at 260g, 280g, and 300g, respectively.

For fall, the sale price of flower honey is at the highest at 680g when placed near a Fairy Rose, which is almost 7x its normal price.

#3. Gifting – Pelican Town Villagers

Everyone in Pelican Town likes maple syrup when they receive it as a gift. Maru doesn’t appreciate maple syrup, however.

#4. Bundles – Community Center

crafts-room-community-center-bundle

You need maple syrup to complete two bundles in the Community Center. This is before the Community Center was restored by JojaMart. Once it is, you won’t have to complete these bundles. You can just pay money to get things done.

  • The Chef’s Bundle on the Bulletin Board
  • The Exotic Foraging Bundle in the Crafts Room

You’ll get 3 pink cakes as a reward for completing the Chef’s Bundle, and the Autumn’s Bounty for the Exotic Foraging Bundle. Lewis loves the Autumn’s Bounty, whereas Marine loves the pink cakes as gifts!

Maple Syrup Can Give You Energy or Gold

In addition to maple syrup’s several uses for crafting a bee house, cooking a maple bar, or completing bundles in the Community Center, you can just consume maple syrup to get a good dose of health and energy.

If you happen to have it in your backpack while you’re at the mines or at the beach, when your energy is dropping, just right-click. And answer Yes to the question that pops on the screen: whether you want to eat (in this case, slurp) the maple syrup.

You can also sell the maple syrup to Pierre’s General Store for 100g, and you can earn up to 680g on a bottle of honey if you’re placing it near seasonal flowers on your farm! As far as the game goes, we don’t remember maple syrup being a part of any quests. But you might be lucky to find it in the newer updates!
