A few weeks after the initial reveal regarding the GTA 6 Trailer release date, the brilliant minds at Rockstar Games decided to debut a glimpse into the next GTA game a bit early. Clearly, this is due to the multiple GTA 6 trailer leaks that surrounded the actual release date.
None of us here at Sparkian are complaining, though. Gamers around the world have been waiting for a look at the next big entry in Rockstar’s famous franchise for the better part of 10 years. After all, while GTA 5 and GTA Online may be going strong, the game was initially released in 2013.
So, thanks to Rockstar’s early reveal, the trailer has now amassed over 40 million views on Rockstar’s YouTube channel since its release a few hours ago.
Here, we break down the trailer and see what Rockstar aims to offer us in their next magnum opus.
GTA 6 Trailer Breakdown
Here’s the trailer itself:
As we can see, the thumbnail itself points to what we’ve already known. Lucia and Jason (possibly) will be our protagonists in the new game, and the palm trees in the background are geared toward a return to Vice City.
Rockstar went all out with the GTA 6 trailer, offering us a look at what all GTA aficionados prefer – fast cars, absolute chaos and mayhem, and plenty of social media footage on the darker side of the American lifestyle.
Clearly, Rockstar hasn’t bid goodbye to its satire of American life and sensibility. The trailer starts by showing Lucia in prison, being released (probably on parole), and possibly returning to a life of crime.
There were also some glimpses of Jason (we’re guessing as he hasn’t been named), the other protagonist of the game. However, the only difference is that the reveal trailer focused primarily on Lucia’s POV. This could mean that we would have another trailer down the line, this time featuring a look into Jason’s story.
Moreover, it’s not revealed how our two protagonists know each other. Are they childhood friends? Were they part of a robbery gone wrong? Or did they just chance upon each other on a blind date? If nothing else, this trailer raises more questions than answers!
GTA 6 Location
Coming to the location of GTA 6, as shown from the trailer and the previous leaks, the game will be set in Vice City. To be more precise, it’ll be set in the entire state of Leonida, which is a fictionalized version of Florida.
The Leonida map could be much larger than any other map introduced in a previous Rockstar game. From the swamps inspired by Florida’s natural terrain to the massive skyscrapers of Vice City (Miami), there will be plenty to explore.
GTA 6 Release Date and Platforms
According to the trailer, Rockstar says that GTA 6 is coming in 2025. This doesn’t give us much to go on, apart from the fact that we have to wait for a little more than a year (and possibly more).
However, there’s a little more information on offer, albeit with plenty of salt.
A report on Gaming Bible states that the GTA 6 official release date may have been leaked. And no, this isn’t just the 2025 that Rockstar has mentioned in the trailer. Instead, a tweet from @LegacyKillaHD on X showcases a possible full release date:
As shown in the tweet, this could mean one of two things. Firstly, GTA 6 could actually be released on April 1, 2025. Or, secondly (and far more likely), this is an elaborate April Fool’s prank played on the GTA community by the people at Rockstar.
Indubitably, the only thing we know for sure is that Rockstar will reveal the official full GTA 6 release date sometime in 2024.
Rockstar has also stated that the game will be available in 2025 only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. While the company has released its recent major offerings on the PC platform, it’s unlikely that we’ll get to see it on PC before the end of 2025 or possibly even 2026.
Things You Missed in the GTA 6 Trailer
All the basic details are fine, and most of us have gotten a fair understanding of what to expect in the game. However, there are a couple of things that you may have missed in the trailer:
#1. Social Media in GTA 6
Plenty of the footage from the trailer looks like it’s been shot on smartphones and uploaded to a social media platform.
Whether you consider this as a TikTok or Instagram knockoff, we’re pretty sure that this will be a massive part of the overall gameplay and story. Considering the fact that GTA 6 will be set in the present day, it only makes sense to include social media platforms in the game.
GTA 5 also featured a few Facebook and Twitter knockoffs, and while they didn’t play a big part in the game, it looks like that’s about to change.
#2. There Will Be Gangs in GTA 6
No GTA game is complete without the inclusion of local gangs. GTA 6 will be no different, and looks to feature multiple gangs in the life of the Vice City faithful. Two have been named, and a third gang of “dirt-bike dirtbags” haven’t been named yet.
The Thrillbilly Mud Club looks like a bunch of dirt truck racing gang, and could be something similar to the Lost MC seen in previous GTA games, and GTA Online’s First Dose Mission.
The High Rollerz look like they could be similar to previous groups like the Grove Street Family or Ballas, which were seen mostly in GTA San Andreas.
And, finally, we have the dirt bike racing group, along with ATV riders, as a possible third gang weaving chaos and burning tires in the streets of Leonida state.
These could be three gangs of many in GTA 6, as such a large game is bound to provide multiple intricacies to the gang wars we could get to experience in-game.
Wrapping Up
Phew! That’s a lot of information to unpack for just a 90-second first trailer into one of the biggest games of our generation. We’ll likely have more leaks and official information on the game in the coming months. For now, the GTA 6 trailer has definitely set the gaming and entertainment world ablaze, and this is clearly just the beginning!
