The BioShock series is a masterpiece in many ways. Both gameplay and storytelling set high standards; the magnificent design of the fictional underwater city of Rapture ranks among the best that has ever been seen in a video game. Within minutes of entering the city, crazed “splicers” lunge at us with screwdrivers and meat hooks.
BioShock induces plenty of chills in numerous situations, such as when we’re sneaking through the clinic of a cosmetic surgeon gone mad who longs to transform the faces of his “patients” along the lines of Pablo Picasso’s abstract paintings.
