‘FIFA’ in the gaming world is no more but only in name. The iconic franchise that was retitled to EA Sports FC, will journey on with its fresh moniker with the upcoming EA Sports FC 24 (or FC24, in short). After the announcement trailer, the game recently got a gameplay trailer too, and is set to launch soon. Here are the most important things you need to know about the football simulator.
An Improved Frostbite Engine and SAPIEN Tech
EA Sports FC 24 is built on EA’s enhanced Frostbite Engine that comes with an all-new SAPIEN character technology. EA says that with SAPIEN, the game will have “realistically redesigned player models that are 10x more anatomically precise and correct down to the millimeter, and GPU cloth stretches and ripples to showcase more athleticism” to it closer to real life.
PlayStyles Technology
EA Sports FC 24 also comes with a new tech called PlayStyles. This technology uses real-time player data sourced from Opta and others to bring the signature abilities of players to the game. With play styles unique to athletes, this tech is aimed at bringing more authenticity to football matches.
Hypermotion V Technology
In addition to SAPIEN and Playstyles, EA Sports FC 24 will be powered by the HyperMotion V technology, an upgrade over the EA Sports FIFA 23’s Hypermotion2 tech.
According to EA, HyperMotion V uses “volumetric data from more than 180 professional men’s and women’s football matches to influence player movements in-game.”
EA claims that this volumetric data “unlocks authentic full-team movement as well as 1,200 signature run styles so fans can experience the unique ways that top players move.”
The World is Not Enough: Players, Teams, Leagues, and More
EA SPORTS FC 24 gives you access to over 19,000 fully licensed players and more than 700 teams to choose from. There is plenty of variety offered, with over 100 stadiums and more than 30 world football leagues.
Ultimate Team Evolutions
For the first time ever in the franchise, FC24 adds Ultimate Team Evolutions to improve the skills of your chosen player. You also get access to new designs and animated backgrounds for Player Items.
Woman Power Comes to Ultimate Team
With FC24, Women’s football comes to Ultimate Team mode. The game adds six new leagues to the Ultimate Team player pool – “the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the Barclays Women’s Super League, National Women’s Soccer League, the D1 Arkema, plus the debut of the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga and Liga F in EA SPORTS FC 24”, announced EA.
Player and Manager Careers
EA Sports FC 24 adds a new Player Agent and a “reinvented” Personality system for players. As a manager, you will have more control over laying out tactics, help from coaches, plus new training features.
Crossplay Support: What’s New
With FC24, crossplay will now come to all the online multiplayer modes. EA has expanded crossplay support to gameplay modes like Clubs, Co-Op Season, VOLTA FOOTBALL (Arcade, Squads), and Ultimate Team Co-Op (Squad Battles, Rivals, Friendlies).
In addition to that, crossplay will be there for Ultimate Team (Rivals, Champions, Online Draft, Online Friendlies, Play a Friend), Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons.
EA Sports FC allows PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC players to play together. Players on the older gen consoles PS4 and Xbox One can team up together. But Nintendo Switch players cannot play across platforms.
Game Editions
EA Sports FC 24 will have two game editions: Standard and Ultimate.
Platforms and Release Date
The game will launch across Sony PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and EA Play), and Nintendo Switch on September 29, 2023. You can pre-purchase the game now to receive bonus content.
